SASSA Grants of South Africa (All Types) & Amounts

Apart from Loans, SASSA also offers Grants. These grants are provided for free, but they do have an application process and requirements. Next, we will discuss the types of Grants and the Application process for each grant.

Types of Grants

Following are the types of grants offered by SASSA, along with their monthly amounts.

1. SASSA SRD Grant for R350 Application Process

Sassa SRD (Social Relief of Distress Grant) is a type of grant given to applicants who must be citizens of South Africa and fall under the specific requirements of age and socio-economic condition. This grant was started during COVID-19 and is extended up to March 2024.

2. Care Dependency Grant

This Grant is for those individuals who need special care. This need for care can be due to old age.

3. Child Support Grant

4. Foster Child Grant

If you care for a child who isn’t biologically yours, this grant is for that foster child. Click below to read its in-depth guide.

5. Disability Grant

If you are suffering from any disability, then a disability grant is like a gift for you. Check the below link to read about it in-depth

6. Grant-In-Aid

If you can’t take care of yourself and cannot pay someone to take care of you, you can apply for SASSA gran-in-aid, which is R480 per month as of October 2022.

7. Older Persons Grant

8. War Veterans Grant

“If you are a former soldier who fought in the Second World War (1939-1945) or the Korean War (1950-1953) and are unable to support yourself, you can apply for a war veteran’s grant.” – Gov SA
